Who we are
The Floral City Hills of Rest cemetery was established in 1893 by the Floral City Investment Company which set aside a small plot of land as the community cemetery. Prior to this time, people were buried in small areas set aside on their own property.
Volunteers (mostly from the Methodist Church) managed the cemetery until it fell on hard times as expenses began to exceed the cost of upkeep. In 1972, the Hills of Rest Cemetery was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation.
The corporate mission is to provide a place for families of Floral City to have a common and affordable location for burials and to provide caring maintenance of the cemetery grounds!
